My T/A Christmas gift
I sold my red Formula but kept the procharged 455 out of it, went through it, changed bearing, 236-244 solid roller, ported 4X heads with chambers opened up to 121cc (7.8 to 1compression)t-400 trans, 3.08 posi 10 bolt rear.ect... and droped it in this 81 Trans Am I've been working on for 3 years. Just finished it except with a few small details here and there. It only had 64,000 miles on it when the 301 expired and has been garaged ever since, soooo, no rust anywhere and no dents. The guy that I got the car from had it more than 10 years and just didn't want it and just gave it to me. We totally disassembled the car and I built it the way I wanted. 77-78 front nose, Changed the color from Charcoal to black. New interior, dash, 160 speedo, 8000 tach, Vintage air a/c, and Restore A Musclecar platinum T/A graphics. Body and engine is solid mounted with urathane bushings throughout the suspension. Stock sway bars with 600 lbs springs up front. On the chassis dyno I stoped it at 5000 rpms and the torque had just peaked at 567 lbs. It was table top flat in the 560's up to that point at 5000 rpm shut down. Hp was 540 with an agressive uphill curve. I didn't want to take it any farther as I already worked too hard on everything just to have to pull it all apart again. Yes it drives awesome and 100-120 mph is effortless. I've waited a long time for a car like this.

Hada 76, I only kept the condenser coil, everything else went out. All of the system fits under dash but will not just plug into the existing vents. I had to fab aluminum transitions to all the vents and then holesaw the 3" holes for the a/c ducts to connect. At the firewall, I fabbed a 16ga cold roll steel plate to cover and smooth out the firewall where the old a/c evaporator system was.. It was easier to install because I was replacing the dash anyway. Just the dash replacement would be a 2 day event.

72project, I fabricated the fuel tank in my shop. I own a metal fab shop and we do alot of stainless steel work in kitchens and hospitals so I built a 17 gallon stainless steel tank with a sump & baffle for the A1000 areomotive fuel pump with a return line. I made the tank narrow because I originally was going to run the exhaust on either side of the tank and out the back but when I mocked it up, it did not look right so I dumped the 3" exhaust behind the rear wheels. I like this t/a more than my 69 firebird.

Doin a Vintage Air swap in my 72' bird right now and my hats off to you. Since they don't offer a second gen firebird kit I purchased a 70-81 camaro kit. The only thing that fit was the evaporator, everything else and I mean everything else was modified to work.

MG, installing all the interior part of the Vintage air was hard but the real challenge was finding a location for the A/C compressor and building the brackets. The D1SC procharger is on the passenger side of the engine and the power steering/ alt. is on the driver side, no room underneath, so it got squeezed between the alt. and procharger. Chop-Cut -Rebuild.
