Default 455 in '67 GTO with Edlebrock Performer RPM and Holley ,fit under hood?

I think the air cleaner assembly is going to be critical to get this to fit under the stock hood. I assume a 14" drop base type will work. What are you guys running?

I had a friend that ran that setup with the drop base grafted onto a Ram Air pan.

I've got that setup with a flat lemans hood now. RPM and QF 4150. I can't run taller than a 2" element with a drop base 14" aircleaner. Needed to shave the wing nut so it would clear the hood. It barely fits.
GTO hood gives about 1 to 1.25" of additional clearance in the area right above the carb, where the peak of the aircleaner is. With the GTO hood, I could run a RPM, a thick gasket, a nitrous plate, a Q-jet and a 2.5" element and still have more room than I do with this LeMans hood.

This is why swapping a GTO hood is on my project list.

The stock 68 and up iron intake will easily allow 450 Hp to be made and allow a real good size air cleaner to be run without a restrictive drop base since it’s lower then the RPM.

Is your 455 going to be making north of 500 hp,

Restricting a motor with too small a air cleaner and a contorted base is no better then running a restrictive intake manifold.

Not a 67 but my performer RPM and Brawler fit with a 14 inch drop 3 inch filter fit fine.

The factory cast iron manifold is a great performance piece. Many want to install an aftermarket aluminum manifold just so they can go slower. Other choices that work well and are stock height are the Holly Street Dominator port matched and blended or a Tomahawk.

I have the Edelbrock RPM intake and Holley 4160 carb on my '66 (same hood as '67) and it fits fine with a typical drop-base air cleaner base. No fitment issues at all.
