Smile Twins

These twin fawns were just born about an hour ago, in our woods where we have a debris pile the doe was licking them, but she saw and heard the gator and skipped off not far so she could watch. I was 2’ away and wanted to pet them but didn’t for fear Momma wouldn’t come back. They are soooooo cute up that close. and new life goes on.

No you don't want to touch them, they a born sentless so predators can't find them. It seems whitetails have a lot of twins. Sure are pretty.

We have a metal building behind the house and a spotted fawn like than came walking out from behind it two days ago. We just watched and it walked back behind it after a minute or two.. Last year or the year before one came stumbling out from behind it and the doe followed it and led it back. We don't go behind there very often I think the doe must bed down back there and drops them back there when it is time for her to do so.

Beautiful animals.

I have to ask, what is the "head of the gator"? Are you talking about a utility vehicle?

Yes our John Deere Gator. We have 10+ acres and we have an area where we dump limbs off the trees, grass clippings, weeds etc. no one goes back there so she’s pretty safe where she had them. Only turkeys back there.

Twins are the norm in my neck of the woods. I've heard "trips" on occasion.

So my Daughter calls me today, and says there’s a fawn on her deck which you have to go up 4 steps, onto the deck that goes into the house. So as she’s looking at it, it looked funny in the face. Not knowing what to do she calls me, I told her put gloves on and put it near the woods behind her house like 100’. Upon further inspection the fawn appeared to have a broken jaw, a bone was sticking out the side of its mouth. She called the Vet, then State game warden, who said just leave it. She told him it was suffering and didn’t want coyotes to rip it apart alive. It couldn’t close it’s mouth it looked pretty bad. she got a hold of another Vet 25 miles away that told her to bring it in, they would access it, and either do surgery, or euthanize it. She wouldn’t have to pay anything. If surgery they would nurse it back to health and it would go to a zoo or preserve.

Didn’t end well the poor little thing had a crushed jaw, not repairable, my 5 year old Granddaughter was very concerned, they told her they would try and fix the fawn and it would get a nice home with other deer. In fact it had to be put down.

I can’t believe the game people wouldn’t do anything.
