Need Help With Stick Conversion
I'm changing a '75 from auto to 4-speed and need some guidance on where to cut the hole in the firewall for the clutch pushrod. Anybody got pictures or dimensions? Picture of current (auto) firewall attached.
Thanks, Eric

Hard to tell from your picture but when I converted my 77 the clutch hole was present and had the speedo cable routed through it. I cut a new hole for the cable and used the clutch rod hole, well, for the clutch rod.
Engine is out of my car right now. I’ll see if I can snag you a picture but it won’t be until later tonight.

Yes. Your first picture shows a cover plate that mine doesn't have but it looks like the 3 dimples in my attached picture are the pattern for drilling. I also took a picture inside that shows a slot in the firewall insulation. Just need to be absolutely sure before I start drilling.
Thanks, Eric

Yes your second pic is the right oval hole for the rod.I did a 75 firebird conversion 2 years ago and used that firewall hole.I had to enlarge it slightly as my rod was rubbing a bit and squeaked all the time.

Thanks to everybody who weighed in! I got a reproduction boot from Ames and am now brave enough to start drilling.

Based on experience, seems like starting in 74, holes in firewall for rod and hole on hum for "Porch" install. Have seen original cars with hacked holes.I am sure you will do better.

The holes are done! I found that a 1.25 conduit punch (actual diameter approx 1.7) just fits inside the boot. Had to drill a 3/4" hole for the knockout punch mandrel, then used the punch to cut a clean circle in the firewall and the interior insulation.
