Default Wheel Question...

I think I know the answer but need to confirm....

59-64 5 bolt factory wheels with poverty caps would have come with slots and spring clips to attach caps...

65 and newer had revised bottle cap style covers that attached to three bumps on flange around bolt circle....

Wheel dimensions were 14" x 6.....till 69?

Thanks

You are correct but there were 15" versions of those rims in the early 60s that could be ordered on the car and came on police cars and some other versions, and the poverty cap slots and clips went back far earlier than '59 on both Pontiacs and Oldsmobiles. Early Buicks also had clips but they were riveted on. '65> may have 15" rims but I'm not sure. Someone else will weigh in.

I love the ease of using 70's, 80's C10 15x6 or 15x7 wheels with doggies on our B body Ponchos our 66 star chief had the 14x6 and i put 15x7 and a tall 235/75R15 all the way around.. funny thing is the original th400 trans code i saw the factory speedometer / trans code chart showed our trans calibrated to the 2.56 gear and std 14x6 wheel tire combo , but the same speedo setup was also used on 2.93 geared car with tallest biggest 15 inch option up wheel tire and thats the gear I swapped in with the safe t track and those bigger tires by coincident.. of topic but carry on

Disk brake cars in 1967 and 1968 had 15" wheels, but they weren't standard across the board until 1969.
