Default GM 3.6 Gas Mileage

Anyone have the new 3.6 304hp V6 motor having mileage problems.
My CTS Coupe is only getting around 13mpg. Sticker says 18 local, 28 hiway. Took it back to the dealer and they say after 3-4 thousand miles it should be better. Would be ok with 15-16 but 13 sucks. Car has 1500 miles on it.

Damn! That's some lousy mileage. Mileage usually picks up a bit after the motor has been broken in, but 13 MPG just seems like something is wrong...

I've always said that the mileage ratings on new cars are higher than what you really get. And I hauled all sorts of new car from 77 to 93... thought the same thing all those years too.

3-4 thousand miles sounds like a cop-out to me Phil, just to appease your complaint. It shouldn't take that many miles to find out what your best mileage will be.

I said the same thing about needing 3-4K miles. What gets me is there is a little roll/miss in the engine at idle. The dealer states nothing comes up on the computer. Am thinking it may have a bad injector or something like that. May take to another Caddy dealer and see what they say. The only thing, there is only two in my area.

Plenty of GM deals I am sure. The same motor is in the new V-6 Camaro. if the Caddy dealers can't find something amiss, maybe the Chevy dealer can help out.
