Top bracket is the same for '64-'67, however a fan guard was offered in '65-'67. Ames should have the parts you need.

There has been some discussion that the true 1964 upper mounting bracket has oval mounting holes as opposed to round ones. I don't know if that is true, or if it matters.

All holes in the upper mounting bracket of my '64 are round. I'm 2nd owner since '71. It came out of the Pontiac, MI plant. Maybe other plants sourced different stamping vendors with the oval holes.

The 64 upper radiator bracket is unique to the 65-67 as to the bolt hole spacing. Appearance wise and physically the 65+ will fit the 64 but one of the bolt holes will need to be elongated—see picture. You’ll also need the correct rubber cushions for either the 3- or 4-core radiator.
I have two OEM 64 upper brackets. One has round holes and the other slightly oval holes to provide for some fore & aft adjustment. Don’t know anything about the build dates and build plant usage to account for the differences. If the OP is talking about the latch assembly support that is specific to the 64 A-body. |
