Went out to KRE this weekend to dyno the new combination. Made a pull with the rgular collectors on my headers. The only change on the next pull was we took off the collectors and put on my DynoMax collector mufflers (which are only needed for running at Englishtown and NHRA National and Divisional races). The results were suprising. We only lost 1hp. But we lost 24 lbs of torque. Next pull we went back to collectors and everything was back where it was without mufflers. I don't know if the muffler is further away if it would have the same effect or not.

How about posting the combo and the actual dyno #'s ? Did you notice much difference in the sound?

These mufflers meet NHRA decible requirments. The price for them is $199.00/ea. The dyno nnumbers without the mufflers was 720hp @ 6400, 659lbs torque @5400. With the mufflers it made 719hp @6400 and the torque dropped to 634lbs @5400rpm. Only made one pull with the mufflers as I will run most of the time without them. Final dyno numbers were 725hp and 657lbs of torque. The combination is a Ram Air 4 headed motor built by Scott Rex with aluminum rods and Ross pistons, Comp roller cam, Victor intake, 1050 Dominator and MSD Billet distributor.

Now those are the Ram Air 4 heads that were done buy Nunzi right ?.Can I take a guess at what the cam spec.'s are. Sounds like your making just as much power with those Ram Air 4 heads, as most are making with some of the after market Aluminum heads, pretty interesting. Scott Rex, I did know he was and engine builder, hum. Sounds like a great combination. I think, NHRA's rules to meet their decibel level is 90 decibels @ 75 ft.

I found it faster than I thought I would. It is 95 Db and 50 feet. Originally this was a no load 3000 RPM test. It is my understanding that now it is a full throttle reading on the track, somewhere around 60 feet from theh starting line.

Play with primary tube length or increase the collector length should bring back the torque readings. And it's a good possibility, being THAT close, that you can make more HP with Mufflers, just alot of hard work.

Wouldn't adding mufflers to a combo that normally doesn't run them require some jet changing?? I need to put mufflers on my car as eventually everybody will. I just dont want to lose 24#'s of torque doing it.

We only made the one pull with the mufflers because we figured we were pretty much maxed out on HP with the steel heads. No use wearing out the motor for a couple HP. Made 6 pulls and only found 6 HP. We're squeezing every last bit out of those heads. Yes Gach these are the heads that Nunzi did for GTOKID. I have to use the collector mufflers because I only have 4 inches of ground clearance under my frame. Headers are 2"-2 1/8" with 2 1/4 by 4" collectors. Tube length is 28" on all tubes.

Hey I mite be sorry I got ride of my Ram Air 4's, guess I'll just have to wait and see. But I'll tell you 720 hp, @ 6200 rpm, with a set of Ram Air 4's, it doesn't get any better then that. I guess old Nunzi, knows his stuff. Be interesting to see what he thinks of the after market aluminum heads.

One thing I didn't do, was comment on your car Zeek, meant to, but got distracted, so I will now,LOVE IT !!, beautiful car. 8.80's....... who would have every dream, a few years ago, that we'd be seeing guys putting together Pontiac's that would run that fast with Ram Air 4 heads, Just amazing.
Intersting intake to exhaust flow ratio.

Hey, Gach:

Isn't it true that the only reason Nunzi and Maxey were running so fast is because they were users of the "Sneaky Pete?"

Also, didn't it take sending those heads to Brandywine AFTER Nunzi did them, to get them to flow so well?
