Hey Guys !!
I want some advice to help pick up about .3 to .5 in et this year if possiable.
this is what my best slip looked like last year
60ft 1.938, 1/4 13.15@105.3
this was on drag radials 275/60/15
car specs
1977 TA 3970lbs with driver
462cid, 72 intake 3/4" 4 hole spacer quadrajet 800cfm carb 75/45 p jets, .041 rods #96 heads 95cc ferra valves 995 springs stock retainers positive seals, new 7 degree locks, stock rockers 1.5 ratio, Three angle valve job and some home porting est flow 220-225 range per discussions with Kauffman Nunzi,Jim hand and others, Trw Forged Pistons moly faced rings gaps .020,.018, Eagle Rods and stock crank with ARP main 2 bolt studs. Cam is Comp cams Extreme energy 274 230/236 @.050 110 seperation installed at 106 intake lift about .490, TRans was 4 speed gears 3.4,2.28,1.45,1 but is gonna get changed before I run it anymore to unless I change my mind a Tremec TKO with gear ratios of 3.27,1.98,1.35,1,.68 Rear is
a 10 bolt 3.42 posi unit. I have subframe conectors that I plan to weld in and plan to install SSM lift bars to help plant the tires as I had wheel spin and hop last time if I left above 2500 RPM. I Have a street dominator intake to try some time if you think it would help. Oh you know if I'm successful with this I'll be back looking to run 11's next year ! I might have to try NOS before I'm through "read scared of NOS"!!

77TA,
First things first you need to get the suspension working! I have a 75TA that weighs 3875 with me in it! And I can tell you that the suspension is the secret to traction in these cars! I run the stock suspension with the 3 1/2" Weld wheel up front, Summit racing 90-10 shocks, ( I tried the Comp-E's and they don't work worth a damm!) I then removed the swaybar because it was holding the front from coming up all the way, thus restricting the amount of weight transfer to the back wheels. Second I have run custom slapper bars, I have run the South Side machine bars, and there is nothing that will compare to the Cal-Trac bars from Calvert Racing for a rear traction device on these Birds! I also went to the Split-Mono leaf spring from Calvert it made the car more consistant on the 60', I tried the Landrums Multi-leafs and they were to stiff and I do not have the horsepower to make them work, but the with the Split-Mono's they work great even with changing track conditions! If you would like to talk give me a shout on my cell phone 703-405-4780 and I can give you some more insite on the suspensions of these F-Bodys!!!

Cool man and Thanks !
I want to keep the handeling intact as this is a real street car that might see the autocross events someday. I like the look of the calvert and the slidalink but not the cost.I thought the SSM lift bars worked the same but just were not as easy to adjust.
The car seems to be squating under acelleration, too much I think it gives a tail dragging feeling under accelleration sort of.

How about getting a smaller set(diameter) of rear tires, try a set of mickey thompson street legal slicks..They hook alot better than bfg's....
I also use the south side lift bars and they work great. Good luck..KS-out.

Seeing as how you want to do both Autocross and Drag Racing you should invest in good set of adjustable shocks like the HAL 12 way adjustables. You can adjust them on the car at an instant for whatever driving situation you're in the mood for at the time. They may be a little pricey but the quality and convenience are worth it.

With the mph you have you should be able to run in the 12's real easy if you can get some traction. The Cal Tracs are the best, I run them on my 75 bird with stock leaf springs and get between 1.6-1.65 60ft times, I was getting 1.7-1.75 60fts before I switched. Where are you shifting the car at. If you are shifting around 5500 and below then I would stay with the intake you have or try the RPM but first I would try a 1 inch open spacer on your stock intake. It looks to me like you have a very good set up and once you get the traction figured out you should be able to run what you want so, I would work on that first and look at changing things on the engine.

JOE,
PLEASE STOP SHOUTING I CAN HEAR YOU CLEARLY HERE IN FAIRFAX!!!!! LOL!!!!

Joe please tell 77ta what kind of horsepower Brians car has and how much NOS he runs!!!
Brians car FLYS because of the HP it's got and that is how that he can make the SSM bars work! He would pick up with the Cal-Tracs. Us firebird owners that are not making the HP like you do need every advantage we can get! When I went from the SSM bars my best 60' was a 1.59 and a normal 60' was 1.63 then I installed the Cal-Tracs and went to a best of a 1.46 and normal now is 1.49. Granted for the money they are the best bang for the buck at a $125.00 they work very welly but not anywhere near the Cal-Tracs and for the extra $205.00 that's cheap ET. As far as the street both will work no problem, but you kind of have the same problem that I do an that is I am running a Hyd cam with very little lift .510 intake and .530 exhaust!!!

Not trying to interupt this post, maybe we should make one on Cal-trax...What settings are you putting the bars in lower or upper and how much preload?

I was under the impression that the SSM and the Caltrak / slidalink were different versions of the same product just adjusting was different one uses shims the other two a threaded rod. What makes the Caltrack better ?
