Sounds like good news. When I called Duplicolor two years ago, right after they bought the PlastiKote brand from Valspar, I told them that PlastiKote #208 and 227 were closer to factory color than DE 1610 and DE1616. They said they would “look into it.” Maybe they did!

I’ll vouch for the factory 67-70 metallic blue color code in the GTO restoration manual. Totally different than out of the can spray.
I got tired of the color slightly changing every few years. Matter of fact I liked the mixed so well… I painted 2 6.0L power strokes with it! |

Nice! That's an impressive engine stand as well.

Thank you for the compliment on the stand! It’s a hoss allright.
The cast iron gear head top I rescued, everything under I built. I always used to use the old plastikote aerosol. I liked it . It was tuff stuff if you had the base clean. But a buddy off of here had painted his block with the mixed PPG paint and I about died when I saw it. Much better color. The aerosol guys have changed the formula at least 4 times in 25 years…. Go get some mixed. Go buy a 30.00 paint gun from Home Depot and spray it. You’ll love the custom mixed stuff. |

The eBay link in post #21 still works.
But they went up from $65 for a 6pk shipped ,,, to $1063 for 6pk Must just be trying to throttle sales during low inventory . I used to be able to buy mixed quarts of PMD Blue Met , and Olds Blue Met & Gold Met. engine colors from NAPA paint store (martin-senour brand) . They had formulas for them. 30 years ago |

I still have the old cans of Duplicolor but I've used a mix from the paint store for years. Seems right to me, little more blue.
I have a 70 GTO in the shop, one owner, engine has never been out. Going to look at the color again (yes 52 year old paint) it still looks pretty good.
