I've heard that regarding the TMI, but not the Legendary. I wouldn't want to sit higher than I do in the car and I'm not "tall" either.

Legendary is not as good as they used to be judging by the product I received this year. Appearance is good, but the panels are not cut and sewn uniformly. The listings were also too short to make the pleats correctly and had to use Corvette hog rings to avoid stretching the material to far in the pleats. Due to availability, I had to buy PUI for the rear, and the fit was quite nice. I'll give the nod to PUI this time.

This week I picked up 2 '97 T/A seats and I'll sew the new trims myself this winter, the only way I'll be happy. Didn't want to spend that much time last summer and not drive the car. Dimensionally the '97 seats are the same as the originals. I got samples of Comfortweave, Madrid, perforated, and faux leather. I'll probably do the perforated and faux leather and build the T/A seats without the headrests, trim the bolsters a little bit and eliminate most of the hard plastic. I'll redo the back seat with some small side and center bolsters for appearance, even thought of going with 2nd gen style separate bottoms and extending the console to the rear.
I'd like to see how this turns out for you, they look very similar to TMI seats, which is what I thought they were at first.

I’ll update this thread in a couple months. I got the 2 TA seats for $300 delivered from a local yard. I received the samples from SMS and the Comfortweave is the real deal woven vinyl, not the heat stamped repop stuff Legendary and PUI are using. It’s pricey though at $185/yd.

Soooo....paused on the legendary kit last year and revisited it a month ago. Ordered the Ralley kit and when it hadn't shipped after two weeks I called. ...and 9 months out (still) SMH. Guess I should have ordered this LAST year lol. At least my seats are in great shape and I'll just wait.

So if anyone is considering these, expect to still wait.

Do they make seat covers or is it just material stock?

They only sell the material.

Curious how many yards are required for 68-72 GTO bucket/bench...

I'm doing my Firebird inserts in perforated vinyl with the surroinds in grained vinyl. I bought 6 ysrds of perforated and there is no room for error if I make a mistake. I bought 8 yards of grained. Your back seat is larger.

If you make rough measurements of your seat panels. You need to allow for an extra half inch around the perimeter of each piece for sewing. And you need to know which direction the vinyl stretches.

There is a place by me that sells surplus OEM vinyl. I paid $7 per yard.

If I sent the comfort weave to a place like Legendary, they can use material they have for the rest, and just use the SMS material for the inserts. But. That would probably be like a year+ lead time.

I bought complete seats from PUI, and not only is the shape/foam boogered up, but the comfort weave insert look like garbage. I sit so high and forward on those things I can't stand it. It's like they stretched material over a beach ball, that's how raised the seat pan and backs are. I'm going to have to do something about it, it's awful. Dang thighs rub the bottom of the steering wheel, that's how bad it is. And the comfort weave is just a flat stamped piece of vinyl, no ventilation. Horrible.

Call some trim shops near you and get a quote to make them if you supply the material. I posted a pic below of what real Comfortweave looks like.

A lot of times the repop foam is just too thick.

So far I completed one seat bottom and I'm satisfied with it. GM used velcro to hold down the seat trim instead of hog rings on 4th gen seats. I used hog rings but had to figure out a way to convert. Also, nobody reproduces the foam, so I had to patch and trim. 4th gen seats are not known for durability, crappy materials and construction. The was the LH seat, worst of the 2 as far as wear. Off to do the rest.
