Default 71 floor harness retainer bracket

Hello,

I'm getting old and the memory's fading fast. I'm working on a 71 Lemans and have replaced some chunks of floor pans. I can't recall where I need to re-weld this bracket on. Position 1 or 2? I suck at taking the "before" or progress pictures. I went over to look at my 69 expecting that would tell me and see no evidence of these brackets at all. I did replace the entire rear seat floor on that 69 car, but first off, I can't believe I didn't save those brackets off the original rotted floor and secondly, there's no evidence of that bracket ever being welded to position 1 or 2 on that 69 floor and that part of the floor pan is original.

can anyone confirm those were never used in 69? or maybe factory just missed that front one and I forgot to save them from the main rear seat floor?

This is embarrassing with my knowledge deficit here, I should know this!

well, answered my own question with a deep dive into older threads looking for floor pictures since this site's become a ghost town.

just to help the next guy, it goes here on that raised square, not at either of my two guesses.

I looked closer at my floor and can see evidence of a bad factory spot weld which is why mine's popped off right there.

For posterity. Since it sounds like you have what you need…

The best reference thread I’ve ever seen on 1971 Lemans restoration is Loffen’s 455 convertible.

Search for “Restoring my 71 Vert”

He did a great job of documenting every detail. I’ve referred to it 1000s of times.

The floor pics are on the first page.

Indeed , Loffen did a sterling job documenting this sort of thing.
