It was a nice car, but just not me at all. I would have easily sold it for my original asking price of $15k if it had the T-41 nose. Just about everbody who expressed interest in it just could not justify spending the money on a car with "just" a LeMans nose.

Invoice clearly shows "C2" for colors - Cameo White w/ the Black Cordova top.

Are you claiming this to be a 72? ( if so, please explain the hood ).. or is the pic from 72?

Steve, that car is a 72 Lemans that belongs to a PY member.
The 68-70 GTO hood will lay right in place on 70-72 chrome bumper A-bodies. That rear view "could" make it appear as a 70 GTO, with incorrect tail lights. Spoiler of course - is a one-off. As in - one off of a second gen Trans Am , flipped around backwards , and molded massaged to fit. He posted about it , wanting to know what it was , before he chiseled it off. Wasn't too long ago. But forgot who it was. |

Baron,
Hate to differ but hoods will not interchange between 68-70 and 71-72 Earlier are rounded hoods to match front end. Later are peaked in the middle won't match.

You beat me to the punch Jack.
I was looking at some pix and saw a 72 flat hood car. Came running back here to admit my shame, and you already got me ! That Blue 72 in the spoiler picture must have a 70 header panel on it. Or a 70 endura Don't remember if he posted a front shot of car. I gotta go find that thread in a while. |

Found the thread
http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...d.php?t=674534 Don't have any idea what made me tag the picture as "72 lemans ta spoiler 1" when i saved it. Russ didn't even state what year model it was in the thread. Just checked his profile .... says he has a 1970 Lemans 2 Door. I fupped up pretty good on that deal. sorry folks |

Did somebody say duck tail?
I find it interesting that Squirbles (apologies if I've grossly misspelled his name) early production car has 71 lenses - my early Sundance WW5 had them as well - but in 40 years lots can change.

Looks like Skwirblies added strobe stripes to the car. In the earlier picture (post #93), the car was not wearing strobe stripes. In my opinion that car looks fantastic with the stripes and ducktail.

It's my opinion that '72 cars built 3Q-71 may have come from factory with '71 tail lights. Mine has them and I think other '72 owners have them as well

John's car is not an original ducktail car, but yes, it's a very pretty car. He added the strobe stripes a few years ago. John's been laying low since his priorities have changed. I believe the original production docs showing that 2 ducktail cars were built are correct, although I don't know how many more spoilers were sold over the parts counter.

All this time I had thought that John's gorgeous car WAS an original ducktail car. As with the pic you posted, we ALL know what ONE of the two factory ducky's was, and I'd give darned near anything to know WHERE that GT is today!
