Does anybody know where to get a third member posi for a 1939 Pontiac

Pretty sure that doesn't exist. The first Posi (Safe T Track) was in late 50's on the bigger 9.3 57-64 Pont/Olds rear. You will need a whole different rear axle for that car to get one. Easier to build a GM 8.5 10 bolt , 8.8 Ford or old style 9" Ford , there maybe a 9" Ford housing somewhere for sale already the right size to fit.

Not the best forum for this...
No Posi carriers for that housing but a '57 Pontiac or a '57-58 Olds housing is basically a bolt in & would allow for a Posi. Or what Larry suggests. Let's see photos! PM sent.

Thats the early style with 10 spline axles like up to 56, no posi available. Better off with a newer style rear end. 8.8 are cheap and come with posi and disc brakes, around here are $ 100
