Default Idiot Lights - 67 Firebird 400

My car is new to me (this week)....so I will have lots of first ten questions

When I turn key to run position (not engaging starter), I expect to see the dash idiot lights. However, I only see 'GEN' light. I do not see any other lights (oil, temp).

What lights should be lit during the initial 'on' test? If only the Gen light comes on, any ideas as to why the other lights are out? Is there a fuse that might control the remaining lights? Sensors? Bulbs? Seems odd that all others would be out together.

thanks,

EDIT: Firebird 400 cone with idiot light cluster

The temp light will light when cranking.
The oil light should be on when key is on.

Might check the wire for the temp sender on intake.

Thanks, I'll check out the temp/oil light wiring and senders and post back.

Did you check the bulb itself?

OK, so I did some diagnostics this evening. Temp light works fine when cranking.

I grounded the oil sensor wire and the dash idiot light works fine. So, I will assume the sensor is bad. I used an Ohm meter and measured 685 ohms across the sensor tab to ground. Not sure what it's supposed to be, but I'll order a new one anyway.

Thanks all!

I connected an oil pressure gauge and the oil pressure is great. So I then changed the oil sensor and the dash idiot lights works perfectly now. This issue is now closed…..moving on to the next one

Good to hear......

one step at a time. Fixing all those things is very satisfying.
