I also run the water plants for the parish. One of our plants is at 20 mgd now vs 11 mgd.

Looking for holes in the oil pan.

I go outside in my shirtsleeves in -40...
We have been to -25 a handful of times, that's still damn cold.

Yep. The coldest we saw when we lived in Racine Co. WI was -30 F; it was the only time schools were closed for weather during the time we lived there. Had a customer up on the North Slope in Alaska. Turbine oil flows down to -60F, but this customer had to routinely pre-heat the turbine engines on the Beech 99s they flew because the turbine oil had congealed. He sent me a photo one time that showed the temp inside the hanger; it was sitting on -65 F. The outside air temp was -75 F. Explained why the turbine oil had congealed. It is currently 89F here; down in Louisville ( around 500 Ft below us) it’s 93F.

Chicago set a new record today (Thursday): THI of 120, and it felt like it.

I've been outside in -60 F air temp a few times, -40 and -50 F many times in MN. -25 isn't even a rarity in MN.

You guys are funny. Thanks for the laughs.
It really will get down to -30-38 for a few days at least this winter up here. And it will be at least -20-25 for months this winter, Come and enjoy it for a visit, you’ll love it.

I do genuinely hope you are all OK and you and your families/friends don’t suffer any heat related Heath issues.

It supposed to be 95F with 74% humidity here today. This is the last hurrah for this heat bubble; cold front coming in tonight and tomorrow. Tomorrow’s high is 88; by Wednesday of next week we are looking at highs in the mid 70s.

Alberta really is a wonderful place. Been there many times. I haven't been to Edmonton, but I've been to Canmore, Calgary and Lethbridge in the winter.

But Edmonton is actually quite a bit warmer than my hometown in norther MN.

Average December, January and February low temps in both:

Edmonton is 7 degrees F, 3 and 9

Hibbing - is 0 degrees F, -10 and -2

Back when we did the Calgary Olympic Bobsleigh run the Sunday before Christmas in December of 2004, my wife called her sister after we had made a run and her sister asked her if we were freezing (it was -35 F in the Twin Cities) and my wife told her we were walking around in windshirts...

I remember when I went dogsledding up in Canmore for my birthday back in February of 2010. I left southern MN and it was -25 F, landed in Calgary and it was 50 F. Got up to Canmore and had to get up in the mountains to find snow to go dogsledding by Three Sisters.

Notice the bare hands, no hat and my wide open jacket...

My wife worked up in Alberta for about 10 years. Lethbridge, Edmonton, Red Deer and Fort McMurray. She also worked up in Dawson Creek BC for 2 - 3 years.

Excess heat this summer caused by Huge Solar Flares. Plenty of slow mo videos on you tube .
This winter looks brutal on east coast as the big Dip in polar jet comes down through Central US.

I recall winter of 1971, probably January or February in eastern South Dakota. I worked in a local body shop. Guy comes in shaking, stamping off the snow and says burr. I'm going back to Alaska where it's warm! Did not compute in my mind! I went into the Navy that summer and in early January 1972 I went to my permanent duty station in Virginia. It was -30 below zero when I left South Dakota in the early morning. I got to Norfolk Va. in late afternoon greeted to 72 degrees!
Frigid temperatures were common in those days and in my youth. Looks like we may be going back into that.

I never liked cold weather but today, it's growing on me. I went outside a little while ago and my first instinct was to stop, drop and roll!

We have been cool in Michigan 70's and 80's. I think we have only hit 90 twice. We have been getting all the rain and storms though. Took a ride in the country earlier today corn is 7' tall and the mosquitoes will carry you away if you're not careful!

What a difference twenty-four hours makes. This time last night: 91 F with nearly 80% humidity. Tonight: 84 F with 74% humidity. Tomorrow’s high? 79 F.

Couldn't seat the 4L80 front pump properly, so had to call it quits, and verify the stack later. Dang.
