Anyone here with DynoMax Ultra-Flo Mufflers on the street?
I wanted to know if these are really lowed on the street or are they qieter than some other Mufflers like Flow Master or Hooker? i am looking at PN 17296 3"in and out pollished stainless steel, I have had Borla XR1's on the street and they weren't that bad, Thanks for any comments!

I like the sound of the Ultra-Flo's. Quieter at idle and crusing than Flowmasters, but at WOT they are just as loud. I am also running an X pipe. Very little resonance too. If you have Jim Hand's book review his comparisons.

i'm on my second set of 3.5" ultraflows with x pipe in a ten year period.went from 3.5 flowmaster top ten shootout mufflers. ultra flows are quieter and performance picked up at the track. like 4mula71 said no resonance and nice cruising.

I run the 3" inlet/outlet welded UltraFlows and they have a more mellow sound than 40 series. Also have the X crossover and 2.5" tailpipes. Slight drone around 2000rpm. Not a problem. I've run 11.32@119 through full exhaust with 4000# wagon.

I have 2.5" stainless ultraflows, no x-pipe, on my 64 GTO Tripower. It is louder than I expected but sounds really nice. Has deep rumble, not that tin-canny sound like on some chambered mufflers. Like someone said, a little drone around 2K rpm, but it is ok. I like them and would not change them. Pretty quiet idle but really sound off when i get into the throttle.

Nice, I Really can't stand low flowing F-masters! they are mustang muffs IMO, I also like the Borla XR1 sound but the DM UFlos actually flow more so thats what i will do, FWIW most ex kits are made for offset muffs i wonder how hard to make these fit?

I have a 2.5 inch exhaust with them behing my 400. I wouldn't have anyother muffler. Good sound at idle, not too loud. Cruising you don't have the interior resonance like flowmaster. Wide open they sound great. Mean. IMHO best muffler you can buy for the money. Oh yeah, I did notice a performance gain also. Good Luck.

Mine are actually very quiet. Like passenger car quiet, you need to be standing behind the car while idling to hear anything that resembles a rumble. If that gives you an idea of how quiet. Since I am not really a racer and I don't need that extra little bit of air flow, I am ready to put some more restrictive but louder mufflers on my car.

I run Dynomax Ultra Flo Stainless Steel 2.5 inch muffs on my ride. I have a 3 inch exhaust up front with the PYPES X pipe so needed a 3 inch to 2.5 inch adaptor set. Sounds great and way quieter than the Flowmaster stuff out there, flows better too according to the flow tests done by the Hand family on their Silent Power CD.
Talk to whomever it is that is supplying the 3.5 inch oval about transition pieces. Are you getting that oval stuff from Dr. Gas or RARE ?

Dynomax Super Turbo's!!!
I will put my vote in for the Dynomax Super Turbo's. I run them with a 2.5" system with factory Ram Air Exh. manifolds and the sound is excellent. Idle is just right, and when you get on her, she really gets your attention!

I just installed a pair of stainless steel 20" case 3" Ultra-Flo #17547 mufflers in place of a set of race Flowmasters on my street car (ex-race car), pretty happy with the outcome:http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...=516251&page=3
I was considering running the Super Turbo mufflers instead, but space constraints wouldn't allow that. I feel my car 'needs' a little more aggressive sound anyway, so I'm really not at all disappointed that the Ultra-Flo mufflers were a better physical fit for my chassis. I do like the Super Turbos, I run the 20" case #17749 2-1/2" pipe versions on a couple of my '64 A-body street cars and really like them.

I just went with the Ultra-flo's myself. Replaced a set of FM 40's. Thse are a little deeper sounding than the 40's, but still very loud IMO. 3" offset in/out with X and tails. 14" long case (maybe thats why there still loud)

Quote:
The 14" case is about all that fits under the 2nd-gen F-body cars, not much space for mufflers under there. I went for the 20" ones on my A-bodys to try to tone the sound down as much as possible, for better flow, and of course because the chassis will accept them. |

Thanks for making the clip Bart. Your car sounds nice and mean. I believe it sounds similar to what my Goerlich's would sound like if I were not running a X-pipe.
