Backspacing on Rally II's
I am looking to put 4 15x8" Rally II wheels on my 1973 LeMans. I have a backspace choice of 4 inch, 4 1/2 or 5". Does anyone know what the OEM backspace is on the Rallys for that year ? The wheels on it now are 14 x 7" Rallys with 4 1/2 "

Not sure of the OEM backspacing on them for that year. But i would really look at how your existing rims fit and look at how tight it would be if the spacing was 1/2" farther back or 1" farther out. Check the front with the wheels turned all the way in both directions.

15x8's with 5" BS would center your tires in the EXACT same place as your current 15x7's with 4.5" BS.
Either of the other two options would have the wheels (and tires) sticking out either .25" (4.5" BS) or .5" further (4" BS). |

Where are you finding 15x8 Rally II wheels in a 5" backspace?
I needed a 5.25" backspace to get what I wanted with rear discs and Wheel Vintiques would not even talk to me. Thankfully, I was able to have Summit Racing order them and have them made. Just curious for others who may be looking.

My old 14x7 measure 4 3/8 backset. I put 15x7 with a 4" backset WV on the front of my 70 gto...looks good and doesn't rub with a 245/60 15 tire. Went 15x8 on the back ,,4.5" backset with a 255/60 15. Not knowing a 73 lemans fender but if going 15×8 up front a 4" backset would be pushing the outside of the tire very close to possibly rubbing on full lock turns. Even a 15x8 with a 4.5" might be close up front. Just guessing though.
I put in a order for 2 custom 15x8 with a 4.75 backset with wheels vintiques in aug of 20. Aug 2021 came around a year later and still no rims. Finally gave up and found new in box 15x8 with 4.5" an hour away. Maybe WV has material now to build rims again

My original rims from my 74 Formula are 15x7 / 4.25 backspacing.
I have a set of 15x8 / 4.50 fit fine with 275/60-15 , had to give the seatbelt budge drivers side a few whacks so the wouldn’t tubas all these 2nd gen Rearend aren’t completely centered

I rechecked the WV website. They make the Rally I in a 5" backspace, but not the Rally II. The Rally II is available with a 5" backspace in the full size pattern (5 x 5") only. My mistake.
