Default Preheater shroud finish??

The preheater shroud that is on my 70 GTO appears to have been painted black. Is this correct?? This is an original untouched car that has been in a barn since 1991.

Default We bought a bunch of NOS preheat shrouds back in the early 1980s.

They were either natural steel or had some type of silver 'plating' on them.

I'll see if I can find one of them and take a pic.

It seems as I remember buying one new from a Pontiac dealer in 1980 and it had a silver finish. Most of the ones I have seen have been silver. Even on other GM vehicles.

Check road test article pix from '69, '70. Shroud for '68 was black.
