Default Poll ~ Ventura Miles Per Year

How many miles per year do you drive your Ventura(s). (Trailer-time doesn't count. Neither does towing.)

Now it's 9 but mine has not moved off the trailer yet, although tomorrow I am finally planning on spending most of the day working to remove the crap from the inside of it!

Question

Is that an original Sprint decal on the car pictured in your avatar picture?

If your referring to Caroles Avatar, Yes. It has the original Stripes and decals (what's left of them) still on it.
Go tot the lobby and search for a post called "the project" initiated by Carole and you'll see some picts of the car.

Before anyone rips those stripes off, I'd suggest making a template from them. Maybe even photographing them from every angle, in great detail, and taking every measurement possible. There was one guy on this site who was getting some made, but he seems to have disappeared. I was only able to get the "Sprint" letter decals reproduced for my own use. Have you posted the pics of your Sprint on the Ventura site?

No, I never posted any picts of my other one on there! That is where I found the sprint I got for Carole in the adds section!
I plan on doing a rubbing before I strip the rest of the car. They are the original and they are in bad shape but good enough to copy. HAven't decided if we're going to put them back on or not. Color (green and yellow) is pretty faded on them and may be hard to match.

I am of two minds on the Stripes.

1) Make it a GTO clone - Rob says he wants to make it a GTO clone so it's like his. A His and Her set of 74 GTOs. The GTOs did not have the stripes or Sprint Decals, of course.

2) Make it original with the Sprint stuff, no GTO stuff. Then I'd keep the decals and the stripes. However, that means a regular hood, no GTO hood and without the scoop, Rob says it won't get the needed air for racing and won't be a fast car. It needs to GTO scoop to be faster.

We'll make the rubbings, and ROb took pics, so if we want to put them back on we can at a later date. He's the painter, so ultimately, it's up to him and if he wants to put the extra work into it. It will definitely be the original dark green color. Just not sure yet on the stripes.

Well, I know GTO decals are a lot easier to find than Sprint decals. Actually, Sprint Decals for '73 & '74 are non-existent. You can always keep it a Sprint, but put a GTO hood on it. Did you see the photo of this car? It's a Sprint with a Goat hood.
1973 Sprint

Certainly! Trace those decals. I wouldn't mind buying a pattern off you. Like I said, there was one guy on here '73sprint' who was supposedly getting them made, but he's disappeared.

Wait a minute, the '74's did have stripes. Darn, I had the book here, but now it's not here. I have a book that shows what the stripes looked like and the colors available. I also have a couple mag articles showing the '74 Goat with stripes. Here are some I found. Anytime I've ever bought a magazine with a '74 GTO in it, this is what the car looked like: (click on these)
74 GTO 1
74 GTO 2
74 GTO 3
74 GTO 4
74 GTO 5
