71 Formula, what was involved in getting the rear seats to fit the 2nd gen?

Removed the original latch hardware and hinges from the 2001 seat. The bottoms were easy, bend the original hoops on the bottom of the seats upward so the bolt can be vertical. After carefully positioning them (centered) with the backrest fitted mark and drill 1 hole for each bottom and bolt them to the floor. To install the back rest I fabbed up a bracket that bolts to the seat in the seat belt holes (top corners) and the wall behind the seat. This mod required holes in the wall behind the seat and two holes in the floor. Here is a link that has pages of this modification. The picturs are in reverse order for the most part.

Craig you are correct, that car isn't decal'd like a '73. Either got the bird, or a plain hood, which personally I liked the plain hood. The bird always was too much for me. But I don't believe they ever put the stripes on a 73. Then again, I have never professed to know much about the 73';s./I could be wrong.. someone who really knows correct me if I am wrong..

With the '73 you could either have the Big Bird, or the little bird on the front bumper and no stripe. I would have liked the stripe as an option too, but it was not to be.

The car looks straight and pretty clean. Paint job is wrong (noted above) with those strips and antenna was in the windshield that year. Looks like its has the wrong front end and springs due to its height but easy fix either way.
What's the month/year of production and options? |

We have a thread buried somewhere about all the differences between a '73 and earlier years. A few off the top of my head are, bumper, grills, bird, rear bumper sits out further, seat belts, Seat Belt Trays, Fender Braces, high collar seats without seat belt loops, Trim Rings on Ralley Wheels, Front Valence, Headliner.
