72 TA 4spd Harrison radiator
Hi, can someone tell me if the 1972 4spd TA radiator was different than the automatic? I have access to an original '72 automatic radiator in real good shape, and I'm wondering if the 4spd cars had the oil cooler also in which the fittings were just plugged, or whether the 4spd radiator was without the transmission oil cooler? Thanks, Greg

I'm fairly certain that 4spd cars would not typically have an oil cooler in the radiator. Autos generally used a different radiator.

You are correct. Two different part numbers and two different units. The one for automatics had the cooling line inlet and outlet. I manual trans unit has none. The OTC replacements most times had the threaded plugs. |

Ok, figured as much but thought I'd ask! Thank you TA and Uncle for the information. Hmmm.... Anyone out there want to trade an original '72 auto radiator for a 4spd???

Ransom, that is SWEET. These old threads are awesome to drag up and review. When I started that original thread in 2006, I was merely trying to decode the radiator tag on my '73 SD455 auto car.
It turns out that same thread has shed light on a completely different question, that being whether plugged auto radiators were put on 4spd cars for a possible application on my '72 455HO 4spd. How cool is that! Thanks for pulling that into this thread, it's very helpful.

Brew, your right about the avatar. Funny thing, my car is such a basket case, I'm having trouble finding a picture that's worthy. I'm still working on it though!
