Relisted at $23,000 BIN. Sure looks like a nice car to me from the photos and it seems very reasonably priced. Alternatively, you could pay 30K for a numbers matching car, spend 25-50K or more on a restoration, depending on whether you do work yourself or farm it out, and end up losing 15 - 30K when you sell it. That is a nicely optioned car.

But what if you buy it and it is a rebody. Then what do you have. How do you market it with the wrong firewall.

This car may have had an air conditioning modification at some point.
It does have an AC hole on the firewall. quote from ad. this is what I don't really understand. does this mean it has had a factory A/C in it, or one of the aftermarket A/C kits? there are several aftermarket kits, vintage air is one that comes to mind. while I wouldn't like the hole, it could be welded back up, if it is one of the aftermarket ones it would make sense. he needs to if he would clear this up, it might sell in a few days,

No A/C on the Ram Air IV cars from factory.I say mod for aftermarket stuff.

either a mod or some people are afraid of a re-body. I have dealt with him before and everything was the way he said, so I give him the benefit of the doubt. wish I was closer, I would love to have it, but would want to look first.

He should show a pic of the A/C hole. If it was one of those early 70's add on A/C's the hole would be different than a factory A/C hole.

I dont like the factory ac opening in an non ac car.
Otherwise I d be really interested, but this is a red flag to me. Looks good enough though, but the ac thing scares me.

Correct me if I am wrong- But if the AC hole is exposed, that might mean the cover is off- which is where the VIN would be? (located under the cover). That's where mine was.

Is this the picture of the AC hole (obviously an aftermarket AC) if it is a photo of the area in question?
The seller also lists 2 phone numbers for questions. If I were interested, I'd pick up the phone and call him.

I sent him a PM telling him about this thread, hoping he might chime in. I'm sure he's seen it...
The bottom line guys is that we can speculate, poke holes at it (pun intended) call it a re-body, whatever, but it is still a nice looking driver 1970 Pontiac A-body with a RAIV. It all depends on what you want to spend your money on and what makes you happy. If you don't trust what it is, trust the seller, etc., why chastise it? Move on...

It appears to be a factory ac firewall.
A look under the dash for the upper dash vent air valves (would have them on factory non ac cars) might tell a little more. |

Why wouldn't you be able to title it? If you are interested in the car call sweet and I'm sure he will disclose if he used a different body for the car. Do gtos even have a vin stamp in the firewall area? I though it was only certain plants?
