Default GM TH-350/TH-400 Flywheel/Flexplate Dust Cover: Are they the same part

I have a cover but it doesn't fit properly. I thought that maybe it is the cover from the original TH-350 that was in the car.

parts stores list them as the same part for both trans... do you maybe have one for a manual trans? they are different than autos.

Default It's for an automatic

I tried to fit it a while back but it is not a good fit.

I did run across a response by jakeshoe on another forum that there is a difference.

With that said, I will not try to make it fit.

A picture would probably be useful.

what is the fitment issue? if its just the bolt holes being off you could probably elongate them to fit, if its something else then maybe look for an OEM one from the trans you have. aftermarkets claim they fit both.

yes a pic would be useful to show what you have & why its doesnt fit right.

The dust cover in the photo on this site appears to have the starter cutout for a Chevy. I guess some one could add a cutout on the other side for a Pontiac starter and close off the Chevy starter hole

the pic might just be a stock photo they used, many places do that since it would take a lot more time/effort to show a pic for every single part they sell. i doubt or at least would hope they dont send you a chevy part for a pontiac.

heres a better example, but they are the same for th350 & 400 trans...

Thanks for the link to Firebird Central, their cover looks perfect. I went back to Speedway motors and read the info more closely and it does say :
"Fits Chevy engines as well as other GM engines with the starter on the passenger side"

Although you are certainly correct about the use of universal photos to keep costs down. It does pay to read through the entire thing for specifics or disclaimers; if they do put any in. Thanks again.

This link to a Buick site should be the answer with good pictures. Book mark this site a lot of good simple information.
