Heads are an older set of Edelbrock round ports that were originally ported by Kaufmann and used on the old 455 engine, they flowed 330 cfm at that time.
Tony Bischoff took them and ported some more, basically all they could do without welding up things and spending even more money, he got them to flow 355 cfm when finished and looked like a work of art. Then heavily ported the Victor intake with some of his own modifications down inside the plenum. This engine, as Dad or Tony will attest, could have used more cylinder head and made another 100hp easily, but it would have taken another larger head to start with, or Tony offered to start cutting and moving valve angles on the current heads. In the end didn't feel it was necessary for what is primarily a street car with already more power than pops needs |

As my son said Tony did a lot of port work and replaced the stock valves with Ferrea 2.19 and 1.77 valves.

Oh yeah, forgot about the valves. I remember he also did a bunch of his own combustion chamber work on them, reshaping/unshrouding etc... I don't think there is anything left "Edelbrock" in these heads

Latest 571 update
After going through several days of video dyno sessions and some other pictures, I've narrowed it down to one of the last dyno days. A shorter video of the engine in the car and running, and lastly, I'll post some pics.
Here is one of the last days on the dyno. Engine was dyno'd on pump gas, using the same chassis headers that are installed in the car, along with mufflers as well. After fixing a pesky rear BOP rubber seal leak several times taking the engine on and off the dyno, they tried a 1200 dominator vs the 950HP, with interesting results. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5WswK-m-zIA Long time waiting, installed in the car and running https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4serXr5Ves Having trouble loading the dyno sheet (PDF file) won't load on youtube, and too big of a file to try management attachments. So if anyone wants to see the power curve and has any ideas on loading a PDF, I'd appreciate it. Last edited by Formulajones; 02-06-2015 at 12:19 AM. |

Here's a shot of the car prowling the streets at a local cruise, and a shot of the new hood installed.

Here are the dyno sheets.
First sheet is with a 1200 dominator and 2" super sucker spacer. Second sheet is with a 950HP and 2" super sucker spacer. Only 1 ft lbs. and 1 HP average difference between the two. Last edited by Formulajones; 08-07-2017 at 03:10 PM. |
