I drove a 64 Riviera from 1976 to about 1980, when I took it off the road. I was in college and the gas mileage was killing me. I kept it in a barn until the early 90s,when I sold it after moving to Raleigh. The car had a super body, but the paint had gone bad.

What color was the 64 you sold in Charlotte? Mine was originally silver with black interior. I had it repainted in the mid-70s, and the paint soon went bad. The guy who painted it would only re-paint if I changed color, so it was re-painted maroon.

I believe the guy who bought my car was from the Charlotte area. I would love to know what happened to my old car.

The guy had actually just moved to Charlotte from Jacksonville, FL and from what he said the car was always from J-ville. It was black with the tan interior. I think it was originally a shade of red though. Just found another '64 in NC and if the car is as good as it looks it's a steal. Might end up going that route just to get one and sell it down the road for a '65.

Joe, you may already know this but don't beat on the nailhead until it's had a chance to warm up. The valves tend to hang up and they are an interference engine.

I had the heads off my old boss's a couple time due to a dumbass lube rack guy's love of revving up cold engines.

Default Might as well pay the shipping

The cars from the SW USA are generally better ones to start with.

Here's one,

Greg

Cars like this I just tend to drive around slow, these things you want to be seen in lol. I don't beat on cars like I used to when I was younger.

Greg, I found another one near Atlanta I'm going to go look at tomorrow. I spoke to the owner of the one I looked at around 5 months ago and he still has it. Texas car and it's overall in excellent shape. Just needs seats done and a repaint. It has a terrible single stage paint job on it now. My shop can handle this stuff easily. Price is right too. I'm approaching buying one of these like getting married. I want to date several cars before I commit to one. I don't plan on getting rid of it lol.

If you need parts, let me know. I've got a friend with 3 63-64s sitting on his property. Rust issues and missing parts, so they're parts cars.

If you have any interest in a 63 there is a beautiful white with red leather interior around the block from me asking $16,500. It says it has a 455HP Wildcat motor with 20,000 original miles. I took a picture of the car and the info in the window I can post if interested.

That's a nice looking car....and I notice he's reduced the price a bit.

I really like that body style. A friend of mine finally was able to get some paint on his. He's had it a long time, was a basket case sitting in a field. '64 that he merged in a '65 grill / front end. 425, 6 speed, she runs pretty good. Enjoying his first season of cruises and shows
