Default NMCA - Martin Michigan July 21-24, 2022

I haven't seen the requisite "Who's going to the NMCA Race?" thread yet (I'm looking at you, Mike Davis) so I guess I'll kick us off:

I should be there mid morning tomorrow (Thursday 7/21).

I'll be running Nostalgia Muscle Car (all weekend), True Street (Saturday) and the open bracket program (Sunday).

Thanks for askin'.

Kinda rough.

It was hot Thursday and Friday (high 80's/low 90's). The car wanted to go 10.10-10.15 free expression, so just short of where I needed to be to run 10 flat for True Street. Bumped up one class to NMC/B (10.25 index) to be sure I could hit the number in the heat. Qualified #8 out of about 20 cars.

True Street cruise on Saturday was fairly pleasant (I've had worse) but the car did not like the heat. Broke up on the first of the the three passes (10.68) but then cleaned itself out and went 10.28 and 10.28.

Then the rains came. I made the three passes while it was looking threatening and then immediately went to the staging lanes for NMC Round 1 of eliminations. Sat there for a little bit and then they told us to get back to the pit area - FAST! The wind instantly picked up and was blowing stuff all over the place; Got the car in the trailer and was comfortably seated in the truck before the deluge hit.

Took them until about noon on Sunday to get everything dried out and start running cars down the track. I went red in the first round of NMC.

Waited around until 4:30 for the bracket open time run when it started raining again. At that point we bailed.

Summary: A good time was had by all, but I don't love it when it is so hot.

Also - I see our resident cowboy qualified Number 1 in Nostalgia Super Stock.

That earned him the bye in round one, so I suspect he is still in and we will see him again in Norwalk to finish this thing.
