Mike, a friend of mine just retired at 62 this past Fall from the job he worked at (he wasn't forced to retire, he just wanted to sit back and play) . I saw him this past Saturday and he's very sorry he did, so think about it carefully. He said now he can't afford to do what he wants, and can't get away from the wife as she nags him constantly about not enough money coming in to pay the bills. For him it's the same for his drag racing. He's fit to be tied over it. We tried to tell him it was too early to retire, he said we should have kicked him in the a** and woke him up. Too little, too late.

Enjoy your retirement, you have earned it! I "officially" retired after 33 years because I was offered a take it or be sorry package along with 45 others at my college. We were all replaced with recent college graduates at 35-50% of our pay. A good move for the college but a large brain drain from the school. Like was said above, I miss the people I worked daily with, not any of the administration. I stay busy so my wife doesn't load up every day with her projects. Play with your cars, travel and do the things you have been putting off because of work. I doubt you will miss it after 6 months or so.

I spent half of my sort of encouraged "package" on Pontiac stuff. I sure showed them!

Wish you and your family the best.
I took a buyout from AT&T years ago and it was the best decision I ever made.
New Career Suggestion: Buy a van or a small bus and sell tickets for your "Old Car Factory Tour". Patti and I loved it.

Congratulations Keith.

39 years in any career might be unheard of in a few years as the younger generation seem to change jobs more frequently.

Enjoy some family time and keep busy with hobbies or travelling.
