Congratulations, Keith. Well earned and well done. I'll be making the transition in 2 years myself. Can't believe the time went by so darn fast!

Congrats Keith. Do not sit around a stagnate. If you're not 65/66 find another job that you can work at that easier but pays good. IF I could still be in the work force at 68 I sure as hell would.

Tom S. hit it. Too much home time is not good at all. My wife and I almost can't stand each other. Our interests are 180 degrees off. But that's a good thing as I can get the hell out of the house and have some peace and quiet. Except for the Winter months.... December thru February. LOL

Retired 2 1/2 years. Every day is SATURDAY! Except Sunday of course! It's a transition. After a while for me (others have said this too) I started losing track of what day it was. But it came back. Many times I'm busier than when I was working. Need to have hobbies, interests, etc. Congrats and good luck.

I’m retired at 39 for health reasons. I raise my three year old daughter as a stay at home dad so my days are busy but once she’s in school full time I will have to find ways to occupy my time. Probably get more work done on my car. I know I am young but the only thing I don’t like about retirement is people assume you are free all the time and get pissy when you can’t do stuff. My mother constantly wants me to run her errands and sometimes I can’t. Sometimes because of pain, sometimes because of scheduling conflicts, sometimes because I just don’t wanna and the people in my life at least don’t understand why I am not a there disposal 24/7. Also if your wife still works and the dishwasher doesn’t get unloaded or the laundry doesn’t get folded be prepared for the “what did you do all day” comments

Congrat Keith, yeah working for GM or auto industry is a gamble and you never know how long it will last, I just got to 19 years myself with GM, while I've been investing in the PSP program, time to get things situated for a time in the next 10 years they may offer me a package too

I posted earlier, my planned exit is around March of 2020. I'll be 62 1/2.

I had my annual review on Friday with my boss, who is about half my age. He's a nice guy, I have no problem with him and he puts up with all of the bs politics that goes on. We got through the previous year review, so he asks me where I see myself in five years. I just started laughing, and asked him if all my gray hair gave him a clue about my immediate future. He said he had to put something down, so I told him I wanted to be trout fishing on the New River in western NC. He still didn't like that answer, so I told him just make something up.

He's very by the book, so I knew he wouldn't ask me about my age, so he asked how much longer I thought I would work. I told him I didn't have a specific date, but if the company decided it needed to reduce headcount, I would not be upset in the slightest if they decided to offer a package.

I would love to have a side job to earn extra money but as part of my SSDI settlement I can have very little to no reportable income. If I had some under the table work I could do at my own pace I could pay for this pontiac a lot sooner

The best of a new life to ya, Keith.

Congratulations, Keith! One of our mutual friends recently retired from GM and there definitely a transition to go through. He is learning how to get used to the
"new normal."

Have fun, play with cars, travel and keep busy. That part never seems to be a problem for the retirees I know!

Congrats Keith on an amazing run at GM. Best of luck to you and your family!

Planning on the same thing sometime this year but it's the health insurance transition that scares me the most. I'm hoping all those projects that get put off until retirement come to fruition!
