Default 67 GTO sports steering wheel

G'Day People,

Had this posted in the wrong section but not sure how to delete from there, so sorry about the double post but I meant to ask it here.

Just a question. Is the reproduction simulated wood sports wheel that AMES sells the same one as OPGI sell? If not the same ,which is the better one. My original one has seen better days and I'd like to replace it. Thanks in advance.

I would think it's the same...unlikely that two companies are reproducing the same wheel. I used the one from Ames and it is a nice piece.

Its the same wheel, that originated from the Parts Place that everyone sells. I'm not particularly thrilled with the color or the seams in the rim. Another detail that it lacks is that the rivets do not show through the back of the spokes like the original. I realize you are in Australia, but I suspect that you can find someone who can restore yours locally. I've done a few myself, and the degree of difficulty is not too hard, but patience is required. Maybe a furniture restoration place can do the job.

I had an original recast a few years ago. It turned out great, and is still very nice. Though, I would be open to considering a trade for an equally nice black standard wheel.
