67 GTO Factory Body Stripe Option?
Greetings, I'm trying to find out itf the stripe kit was a normal option for all 67 GTO's? Or, was it only on the HO car? Any other markings that denote a HO car such as emblems? Thanks friends.
Mike

Nope, The beltline stripe was available for all GTO's and as an option it could be eliminated (delete stripe) . As far as I know there was no exterior identification as to denote a H.O. car from a Ram Air car from a standard GTO. I own an original H.O. four speed 67 GTO and the only way to visually identify is the prety "WS" stamp in the engine block (WS is for four speed H.O. cars) and of course when you see the taillights pull away from unsuspecting followers.

I remember years ago that the ralley stripe was added by owners and maybe dealers if asked. But never saw one with it from the factory.
Plus I've seen the ralley stripe added to go across the rear.. from the quarters over the trunk, like done on the Dodge Darts. Now that was up in Northern in NY back in the very early 70s.

Yes the rally stripe was an option and probably only a handful were done this way.
I would call it the competition stripe myself. It was a dealer installed option and wouldnt have come from factory. Colors were red, white, blue, black.Cost in 1967 was $15. It lined up with the driver kinda like a gunsite, and went the entire length of the car. This is not to be confused with pinstriping or the 66-9 A body "Sprint" stripes. I repro those and would gladly do the single stripe if given the dimensions. |

That's very interesting about the rally stripes. I learn something everyday from this site. I thank God I was lucky enough to have stumbled across the PY Forums a couple of years ago. I also love the humor, like about the tail lights Tim john. I'm still laughing!

Rally Stripe info...
This is from the 67' Acc cat.
Looks like the HO and/or Sprint stripes just stuck on top of the car. I recall a set being sold on ebay a year or so ago...

I hate dragging up old posts like this, but does anyone make this "rally" stripe, or am I supposed to use the Sprint Stripe? Looking for one in blue. but I could use a red one or white one.
What is the dimensioning if I want to make my own? |

I'm going to be a real oddball and put one on my 64 LeMans Gto. I can get measurements by using the gto logo as a scals

I have never heard of this before. I wonder if it's related to the 4-4-2's dealer-installed stripe?

Although the stripe for Oldsmobile seems to be of a different configuration, the placement seems consistent with the picture that Jeff posted.

I remember seeing a couple of 66 GTOs years ago that had the ralley stripes across the trunk lid and down each quarter fender.... like on the Mopars. Anyone have photos with them on a GTO? Not sure if the dealers or owners did these but they looked kinda cool.

Wow, I posted this back in 2007 so I'm not sure how it came to life again. Mike

I brought it back to life because I'm looking to do something different on my '64 Lemans driver. Trying to find a stripe kit that would work. I searched PY and ebay, but nothing available. I might have to make my own.
