looking at the pic & knowing the size/space of a 2nd gen trunk, i bet they did this like the fieros... where the radiator was still up front but would have had to have a electric fan set up, then they run big ~2" metal pipes down the side of the car to carry coolant. but i bet it was hard to keep cool with a big V8 in teh trunk!

I wonder what they used for a transmission (or transaxle). In the picture above there appears to be a torque tube connection to the engine, along with independent suspension.

Stuart, probably the TH425 from the Toranado/ElDorado. This transaxle could stand up to the Olds 455 and Caddy 500 with their 500+ ft/lbs of torque.

I bet there wasn't much of a backseat in it. As for the gas station attendant, I bet he's still scratching his head every time he thinks about it. LOL If he's still around.
Imagine opening the hood and someone is laying it there pretending to be taking a nap.

The engine was a 327 chevy, transaxle was from a Corvair
IIRC. had long cooling tubes like a Pontiac Fiero.

Definitely a Pontiac oil pan, you can clearly see the 4 bolts that seal it to the timing cover at the front of the pan.

I have never heard of Herb Adams putting a Chevy engine in a Pontiac vehicle in all of the years I have been following Herb Adams and Tom Nell. Interesting, IF TRUE.

Just think corvette just finally did this now. Certainly the general wouldn’t have let a lowly Pontiac out do the corvette. Unfortunately that’s always been the case at GM which is why I don’t buy GM anything anymore without Pontiac around.
