Default Ultrasonic Rare 66 3x2 Auto 3.90 Vert on eBay

https://www.ebay.ca/itm/315179711505

White, Blue Interior, Blue Top
Pretty well loaded with all electrics
Automatic with 3x2 is Rare , 3.90 posi on Automatic is Ultra Rare , plus its a loaded Vert
Even Red Fender Liners and Chrome Extensions
But an obvious restamped block

Looks to have been a Brass Hat Exec car in Zone 02
No way it was a Zone Inventory Car with this set up.

Lotta cellulite in her ass though , and prolly needs a tummy tuck.

Too bad there's no pic of block date code.
That EUN is too early for the car. Around December ?
That's if it's a 66 block. 65 block would be possibly Jan (01x)

Hopefully not a 400 block? (67 and up)

A sharp car when new I bet.

I strongly suspect 132k on the odometer. The 3 isn't lining up with the 2, which is a good indication it's been rolled over.

I would guess its easily rolled over once , if not twice.
Which might could mean the 3.90 gears have possibly been swapped out for friendlier gears.

Would sure look good in Fontaine Blue with the blue interior & top

Being charged to the Zone , with no holdback amount , no full invoice number , and a 9 in the tagged box , means it was not sold to the dealer.
Tagged for an internal type use by PMD / Zone.
Possibly just dealer prepped by that dealer for the execs use , or put in that dealers care for promotional use in the area.

Very rare ‘66 GTO. It’s a shame this C4 convertible is in such sad shape, needing everything.
Only 1759 YR code built in ‘66.

Here is a WS in E4 Nightwatch Blue, Blue top.

Not that we'll ever know
But taking that 1759 down to Convertibles , and then 3.90 , would be small.
Have not seen but maybe a handful of 64-65-66 Auto 3.90 documented cars in all variants.

Its also just a little odd that its only listed on the Canadian eBay
Very interesting car with the billing , and the equipment.

Something I guess I never noticed before on a convertible.
The rear window switches are on the armrest instead of the vertical trim panel.

Bid is up to 20k and it is noted that the reserve has been lowered.
But it isn't met yet.

It ended at 22,800 USD with reserve not met.

That wont stop dealers like this from putting a price at least 2x what the public says its worth.

Default Another 3x2 with 3.90 posi

Not a convertible but it is a 3x2 auto with a 3.90 posi rear., located in Norway. I saw someone mentioned EUN number on the car in the ad, mine has 053120 and it matches the POP. Car has a invoice date on the PHS paper, november 4, 1965.

Default This one ^^^^

This ‘66 YR was just up the road from me, parked in a deep driveway not being used.
I checked on this car forever. NOPE, not for sale ….. then one day it was gone.
Found out years later it is in Norway with my good friend Anstein.

Twojokars, do you have a date code from the engine for the YR?

Its odd that it was invoiced in Nov 65 and not sold until May 66 (p-o-p)
Isn't this a high option car also ?

Maybe a special order that didn't follow through perhaps.
YR 3.90 isn't a typical sales lot car

Default Date code

John, the date code on the block is "J15" wich makes it casted October, 1 1965 ?
That would match pretty good up with the factory invoice date i think. I dont know why it isnt sold/delivered before May, 25 1966 but can it have been sitting in the showroom, or perhaps a kind of a promo/ dealer car? I know it was sold to this Walbey man by Doten Pontiac in Berkeley, it is a Freemont build car with some options, but i think mabye the most special option is the "Metalic brake linings» that couldnt be very common on an auto? Walbey owned a gas station and had the car for 6 years before he sold it to a co worker that had it for the next 32 years, the last 10 of these it sat in a garage, retired from a long life. Still has the original vacuum linkage fully functioning. Gets drivin every weekend when the weather isnt to bad and sometimes to work in the weekdays also.

When i got in contact with my friend Chris back in 2013 he got me interested in the history of these cars, and that realy adds a new dimension to the hobby.

I think the brakes were required with the 3.90 axle.
Historically through all years GTO's the 3.90 and 4.33 ratios were totally untypical with automatic buyers unless the engine option required it - such as certain RamAir varieties.

Its a hand picked car for certain.
Dealers wanted to sell cars way before a 7 month period of possession .
If your invoice number on the BHC starts with an A or B they were paying interest on that car after 30 days - every month.
Loss of profit margin.
