Default 15" tires going extinct?

It seems very limited in 15" tire sizes.
For instance I have 255/60/15" on my 71'T/A Goodyear Eagle GTII
Nice looking tire....got around 2001
I can't find new ones...only BFg's & Cooper Cobra's

Goodyear doesn't make them anymore, but still readily available at this time. The two you list are the most common.

In addition to the Coopers and BFG, there are a ton of "off brand" tires still available in that size. Take a look on Amazon.com to see what I mean.

I just recently replaced my Cooper 245/60-15 front tires. They were not worn just 10 years old. I replaced them with Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/T in the same size. I run 275/60-15 Nitto NT555R on the rear.

On the front tires I use Firestone Tire Black that comes in a spray can to cover the white letters.. But they don't sell it at retail; it's for their own use. Find a friendly store manager that will be kind enough to let you borrow a can.

I'm considering aftermarket wheels & 17's for my 67 GP now that I see choices are limited

Go to Walmart.com plug your tire size into the search gadget. They will list all tires available to them. The ones not stocked at your nearest store will be shipped there, for free, might take a few days. Prices are fair also....

I went with the Coopers a few years back when I needed new tires. The lettering is a little "fatter" then the Bfg's, they're less expensive and the tresd seems to "look" more modern. No complaints I'd buy them again. 255-60's front and back.

If you are going to upgrade your wheel tire size I would go 18. I did a lot of tire and wheel shopping and that seemed to be the sweet spot for price and availability. 16 is getting like 15 and 17 was truck tire heavy. When I plugged 18 into the tire rack wheel/tire package generator I got a whole lot more hits.

I went with M/T Sportsman ST's on my Camaro. Great looking tire, IMO.
