I need to do some touch-up and detail work on my grills and tailight bezels. What is the best type of tape to cover the chrome borders and ribs etc. so that paint won't seep under? and to give a good crisp line?

It's been a while, but when I sold auto parts all the best shops used the blue 3M masking tape. Does corners well and pulls off clean. Also has better bleed through resistance and, like you stated, leaves a crisp edge. If I am behind the times on this, just ask the counterman for the best 3M masking tape he has. Should do the trick and hope the grill/ bezels come out nice!

Happy GTO'ing

You will want to use 3M fine line tape . It's made out of plastic and will give you a perfect edge . It's availible from 1/16 - 1/2 inch . Put this down first followed by regular masking tape .
