Dell 32" Curved screen. My work monitor that I was able to bring home to use while working from home.

I am finally getting to complete and install my dream motor into the 65 GTO I have had since the late 80s! Getting the family involved in it as well, sometimes.

Default To the Skies!

I've done all I can do for the time being on my '70 GTO, so I dusted off my flight simulator and started tinkering with that. It started out as one of those "tab A into slot B" kind of things that you can make out of a couple of sheets of plywood. It's designed to be somewhat portable in the sense that you can break it down and reassemble elsewhere. Since I haven't done a LAN party in almost 30 years, I decided to make it more permanent by building a base with a floor and casters so I can just move it around as necessary in my basement.

I extended an old joystick so I could do a center mount, as my sims are all WWII prop era stuff (IL2 to be more specific). Then I built a custom stack to hold the CH throttle quadrant and another controller board inside to operate the three trim wheels. I also use a thing call TrackIR that lets me visually pan around the virtual environment instead of clicking various view keys on the keyboard. My wife stitched up a sweet set of cushions for me so it's easy to spend too many hours in.

Yesterday my wife and I had a rock and roll party at our house. Everyone that I didn't invite didn't come! That's the first 100% participation I have had! We lined the path through our daylily bed with odd shaped rocks, leveled the path, put down weed block fabric and then put down 2 tons of pea gravel one wheelbarrow full at a time.Path is 3 feet wide and 40 feet long. We did it in less than 6 hours! Not too bad for an OLD man with the help of my wife!

Default More junk recycled...

Basement re-organization turned up some old billiard balls. I drilled/tapped the 8-ball to use on the Hurst shifter- that's patiently waiting, along with a Saginaw 4-speed, for use in a future project.

Getting my new air system sorted out, waiting for the parts to build the aftercooler. Added an auxiliary fan, and made a deflector shield to keep the air from the fans blowing on the cylinders and aftercooler.

Looking ahead to this summer's towing of the lakester 700 miles to Maine (post- Covid hopefully), I realized that '59 GMCs didn't have cup-holders. So I put together a combination cup- and thermos-holder so I can one-handedly serve myself coffee! And it provides neat storage space for the 4 lb. Halon extinguisher (rules requirement for tow vehicles).
I even managed to detail and paste wax the whole truck.

Are you going up there for speed runs? There is a giant old air strip or something right?
