Thanks in advance for any help here. Im doing and engine swap in my 67 tempest. Im removing my 326 and installing a 400 from a 74 Lemans. The problem is my motor mounts will not fit on the new motor. Is there an adapter, or will the mounts for a 74 fit on my car? Please any help appreciated. Im new at the pontiacs and probably should have researched this before hand.

I have a '75 Firebird 400 in my '67 Tempest and just changed the motor mounts. I ordered the standard mounts and they fit fine. I can't tell you if a '76 is different or not ... I read something recently about this, I'll see if I can find it.

If the block is a '76 you do not have the provisions for the early motor mount. Give Dick at IA a call. They make many different motor mount adapter that will work.

I also swapped engines in my 67 Tempest. I sitched from a 350 to a 400. The motor mounts were different, but the standard motor mounts from a local parts store fit the engine. However, I cannot get the driver's side header to sit flush b/c it hits the frame. Did you have a similar problem? What did I do wrong? Is it possible that I placed the motor mounts in the wrong position on the frame? Please help.

The car had a 350 in it when I bought it. The motor mounts did not match the 400 so I bought some motor mounts and installed them. Someone told me that the external dimensions on pontiac engines (326-400) are the same. If so, why doesn't the 400 engine fit as nice as the 350? Is it the placement of the engine, the headers, or something else?
