They are your front bumper - grill brackets Mine have nothing attached

Included pix of my 70 front end tear down as best as can show.

I show nothing attached on my tear down but I do not have the Valance chrome or Panel molding as shown in Ames catalog Look pg 94 part B209L and R are the chrome molding for lower valance. But there shown as having mounting clips to the valance.

So I think nothing goes on those grill brackets near as I can tell

BN I found last evening that I had bought the chrome valance trim already and gave them a look .. To me the hole or post for the valance piece looks like it lines right up to those two Grill brackets on each side as alignment tabs etc.. including pix of the chrome valance trim

I also tried to upload the PDF of the assembly manual of the front end 242 car, ----- and it is unclear or not shown in assembly manual drawings that those moldings stick anywhere into the grill mounting brackets

Note in assembly dwg Molding is part #25 with retainer #26 and screw #27 shown in View A lower left.. Looks like retaining clip just holds it on the Valance Assembly only..

Got everything mounted. New valance, chrome moldings, clips, parking lights, fillers, license plate bracket, and Judge spoiler. If anybody has questions I think I figured it all out correctly.

Eric65, thanks for all the help. There are 4 of those brackets that hang down but nothing attaches to them. I almost thought about cutting them off but the more pictures I see, they are correct.
