Great progress....don't get discouraged if you think it's taking too long...it took me 8 years to finish my 67 GTO...one project at a time

Ok so I am back in the states and the kid is back at it, he made some more progress on the rear axle while I was gone and learned about how other people have agendas such as hey I can come and help oh yeah and use your lift to work on my stuff and not really help you. Tough lessons and discouraging but part of life. he almost has the underside clean and has a bunch of parts prepped and basically the whole front end almost bolt on at this point. The seats are out getting done right now so things are happening just not really getting documented on here as well as I would have liked, oh and my camera is among the lost too a victim most likely of being put somewhere "safe" while I was gone. Also worthy of note another board member secured a hood for him while I was gone and yet another sold him a trunk lid at a very fair price so he has be going to town in some ways on it.

I am hoping so, might be constrained by funds but we will see. You helped a bunch to get us to this point. Mark

He latched on to this car at age 6 and has kept interest all along which surprised me. He saved it from being a parts car for me. I am glad to have him join us in this great hobby/adventure.

Looks like its coming out great! I too have done the same thing with "parts cars" lol. They start out innocent enough, but soon I find myself restoring a car that was never supposed to be!

Do you guys attend the big car show at the Bass Pro Shop down in Foxboro? I really want to make it down there this year, and it be cool to meet you guys!

It is coming along, we do get to the bass pro show fairly often. Hope to get a couple of the cars there this year. Will most likely be the first trip out for my 71 ta, may get the 70 judge there too.

Very cool, thanks for the offer! I'm hoping to make it down there at least once this year. It's about a 140 mile round trip for me, but it's a great excuse to put some good miles on the car!

Thanks for the continued updates. Please keep 'em coming, and let us know if y'all need any parts.

Are you headed back overseas anytime soon? I'm headed back to the states (probably Ft Sam - San Antonio) in July after 5 years overseas in Korea and Italy.

Scott

We are working the deck lid, it got another layer of high build this PM and will get worked from there. I know we need the little trim pieces that go on the bottoms of the fenders. His budget is not going to allow for new. I don't think I am going back too soon just got back from the sand box in Sept which slowed this down a bunch.

So no pics but hood is mostly all set, trunk lid as well is ready for final work when we bolt it all together. We are smoothing out all of the dings on the body shell (there are a lot, like this car was in a hail storm) used a bunch of pins on the stud welder. Also installed the PS pump and alternator in it as well as some other motor acc. Need to do the clutch linkage, missing a couple of small parts there and the budget is dry right now. We also started working on the front header panel, next will be the doors and we will basically have the bulk of the body roughed out. Interior is not back yet but we are not there yet anyhow. So that is the status looking for a few parts for clutch linkage and the fender gills for a 71 lemans. I think he wants to put a 70 Judge wing on it too, I have a used repro one in the rafters so he has claimed it LOL.

which clutch parts? Is that the hinged buckle looking piece you're missing? (bell crank) I can look, but think I have one of those, as well as a ball stud. (Realize you would need one or the other)

I recall there being a bunch of the gills in the batch of stuff you guys picked up, maybe rifle through that, I know I bought like 2 sets, and the originals weren't too bad, fairly certain they were in there. Oh, keep in mind, they are different for LH / RH, they are narrower at the top if I remember right. The mounting pegs are offset, so they only go on one way.

I have very good visor mounts, a pretty nice rear view mirror, and misc other interior stuff, I will get a list together and PM you.

Shame I just pitched all the OE regulators, they were all good, only the driver's was slightly worn at the shaft. All the hardware too. Have the OE tinted glass, only the passenger side door has a couple splatters on it from some door work, but you really have to look to see it.

When he went through all of that stuff he did not mention those in there but he may not have known what he was looking at when he was sorting (this has been a big learning event for him for sure) I bought the crank for him from off here, he is missing the rod coming down from the pedal itself, the bolt and bushing that hold the crank to the block and one of the two springs (the smaller one I believe). I am enjoying watching him work hard towards a goal and feel pride in getting things done.
