Ollie,

If I do another EFI motor I want to try using a stock ECM. I figure I can do some of the R&D on my current engine by patching into the Accel wiring harness. The Accel system uses all mid 90s GM sensors as do most of the aftermarket systems. The big pluses are reduced cost and the abilty to buy all the parts including ECM at your local parts store. The big minuses are that it requires a lot more smarts and some expensive tools to hack the ECM.

Have you visited: Thirdgen.org

There's a lot of good info on hacking factory GM ECMs and the guys there are not against answering non-ThirdGen questions. They've been pretty helpful to me. Another great site is:

TurboMustangs

Despite the name, they are quite ecumenical having forums devoted to GM and MOPAR owners.

J.

Hammered,
Check John Wilsons site
WWW.Customefis.com
He has links to other sites that have reprograming code for the GM ECM

Wow. I need to print this out for when I win the lottery and do EFI.

Thanks, Ollie, now I understand something about the timing that I never even knew existed before. Good information.

Hammered,

I have a question regarding the Edelbrock pico injectors are they saturated (high ohm) or peak and hold (low ohm) ?

Ollie,

I'm pretty certain that they're high impedance. My ECM doesn't care so I never bothered to confirm this detail. You should contact Edelbrock's email techline to make sure. They were surprisingly fast at responding when I had problems.

BTW, Wison's book was probably the best I came across when I was studying this stuff. Bohacz's book is a complete waste as is the book written by the EFI University guy (can't remember his name).

John
