As a life long guitarist I am a huge fan, his guitar work was vastly under marketed.
Love the guy ... but he did do lots of heroin for many, many years. Didn't know that until very recently, he always seemed to comport himself well in public. |

http://www.latimes.com/local/la-me-t...002-story.html I've thoroughly enjoyed Tom Petty's music for a long time but about 2 years ago I got the 4-cd live anthology and it really intensified my appreciation for his music (many of the great tunes on this compilation don't get regular airplay) and the musical chops of his band mates, The Heartbreakers. If you have 4 hours to invest, the Tom Petty documentary on Netflix is stellar. Truly one of the all-time greats. |

Very sad indeed. Doesn't matter what he did along the way, drugs, smoking, etc, he had a good life and did it his way for sure..........Cliff

The documentary is called 'Running Down a Dream' on Netflix....it is great.
A guy who did things "his " way, and it was the best way. Thanks for the music Tom, .....RIP. |

One of my favorites. Very sad news indeed. I've seen him in concert a few times over the years when he'd come to Philly. He leaves a gaping hole...

Tom Petty was cool...I wasn't a diehard fan, never saw him in concert, and don't keep any of this CD's or albums. I hear him on the radio once in a while. What I liked about him was his attitude. old school rocker cool. RIP Tom Petty.

Have read in media, that if you have not been seen by a doctor in last 6 months, there's an automatic investigation/autopsy performed. The autopsy has been performed but no cause of death yet.
Does the cause of death have to be public? or can it be kept secret? Cliff? You have some knowledge of this stuff....
