Great car with two interesting things for 4000mile car. Plastic front valence is gone and underside of hood is completely white.

That's the laundry room Trans Am I believe, was on facebook in 2022. Car always struck me as high in the rear for such an original piece.

Other than the earlier year (and 455) that car is optioned eerily similar to my 74 TA. Black custom interior, no hood bird, 4 speed, manual windows and no AC.

I don't think the motor and VIN are the same. Dash has a last digit of 8. Motor reads 7. Off one digit. I know this doesn't happen much, but to a 4,000 mile car?

It happens. What are the odds of finding another motor 1 digit off....

I didn't know who bought it until now. A few people I know were interested in it. Dave bought it for Corvette money. Guy probably paid Camaro money for it. How does one spend over 6 figures (his words. My mind would think $1,000,000) on a '71 Chevelle resto?

Old Corvette or new Corvette?

He was looking for offers over $100,000. I figured old 'vette to go along with the '71 Chevelle.

Definitely happens quite a bit and has nothing to do with the mileage on the car

I wonder if the bottom was dry iced?

I bet that was done there at Restore a Muscle Car. Costs about $2k to $3k to do. Sure looks like they did it in the engine bay too.

That's what I thought. Then I also thought that it looks like a lot of road wear on the underside for 3-4000 mile car.

The way a car is stored has a big effect on a car. It could be good or bad. If stored over a bare concrete floor moisture will get to the bottom of the car and show surface rust etc.....

Yeah exactly what happened to that brewster T/A on BaT right now. But $3,000 of dry ice blasting can remove most of that surface rust. Cars are meant to and need to be driven. Period.
