Default Muncie case magnet

Hello, searches turning up nothing for me. I've got a 68 M20 muncie I'm cleaning out and updating with 69 shift selector levers and noticed a round magnet in the bottom of the case. I initially thought I'd just tweak it up with a screw driver to pull it out and clean it when it dawned on me that the case is aluminum so it's not just stuck to the bottom in that depression by magnetism. what exactly is holding that magnet in place down there?

The probably just silicone it to the case. They do the same in Aluminum tranny pans.

A lot of them are epoxied in from what I’ve seen .
Why remove it? Just clean it up.

Yep many are glued or epoxied in. Same deal Ive seen on many trans pans and rear diff covers and quite a few manual transmissions.

Just clean it up and run with it.

I'd remove it and use magnetic fill and drain plugs. I wouldn't want a aged magnet coming 'unglued'.just me maybe I think to much.

I agree. No way would I want to even think of a magnet coming loose and getting into the gears. Magnetic plugs are the answer.
