Default Poly-lock question

Looking for someone familiar with rocker arm poly-loks? I need to adjust-out some chatter, but the large hex nut is tighter than seems normal, even with 1/2" drive breaker bar. Crane Gold rollers with ARP studs. Built by Taylor Engine Service 2002

The proper way to adjust them once they have been set is to first break free the inner set screw.

Next make your adjustment with the outer nut and then tighten down the inner set screw.

Next tighten down the outer nut.which should have to make no more then 1/2 of a additional turn to be tight.

You will need to get the feel for doing this because going for that outer nut being good and tight will shift the adjustment setting somewhat.

Even with a hydro valvetrain if I am shooting for zero lash I like to use a .005” feeler gauge so that when. I make that final tighten up of that outer nut I am real close to dead on zero lash.

Thanks 25stevem,
I started with the Allen screw per your recommendation and was able to loosen the polys. I appreciate the additional information which I'll use to make final adjustments.

Is there a torque setting on the polys?

You can't really set a torque # since you should turn the outer and allen at the same time for final tightening. Gutentite is about all I shoot for, once they are tightened I've never had one back out.
