Default 66 gto stock tire size??

What is the original tire size of a 1966 Pontiac GTO?? When i turn either left or right, my tire scrapes the inside of the fenders.

Original size was/is F70-14 but I prefere a G70-14 for it is slightly taller and fills the wheel well much better and will not rub the heel of the fender.

60 series tires will rub depending on the size of them. Right now I have a set of Firestone 225/70-14s (7 inch wide rims I believe, but could be 6) on the front of mine and they don't rub. Cragar rims, not stock.... if that helps.

Rally II's on '67 GTO's and Firebirds were all 14X6. Tire size for the '66 GTO was 7.75 X 14 and in '67 was F70 X 14 on the GTO and Firebird. I remember trading my F70 redline Wide Ovals for G70 Wide ovals when my '67 Bird was new.

The 7" rims came later.
