We know, you love your Tesla. Some of us don't have that disposable income to spend on a vehicle like that. So, you don't go to a gas station, big deal. You are still "refueling " it every day. I stop at the gas station once a week. It still won't work for me; it won't pull my travel trailer. I don't see many charging stations on the way up north in Michigan. Your Tesla may be faster but like I said before, it is ugly. I couldn't drive a vehicle if I hate the way it looks, no matter how fast it is. There is still not enough infrastructure to support widespread EV use. When everybody in a neighborhood decides to charge at once, what happens then? I talked to some power company workers, and they have some good stories about the problems and the inadequacies of the grid. You early adopters can have them. We all don't hate EV's, we don't want them shoved down our throats and then telling us it is the solution to global warming. Strip mining a 3rd world country is not very green. Most of the rare earth minerals needed have to be bought from our enemies. Most electricity in the U.S. is still made by fossil fuel contrary to what most people are led to believe. In my part of Michigan, DTE, our electricity supplier, states on their website that they produce electricity using 67% fossil fuels.

I didn't know that Tesla's were vulnerable to theft....
“Smart” keys are causing auto thefts to skyrocket, and we have to pay for it.

I'm selling my stupid Tesla Cybertruck as prices are crashing, but Carmax refused to make an offer?

I don't like the "green mafia" mandating electric stuff, and funding the companies that are RUINING good, productive farm land in order to put up solar panels to fuel the mandates. And I LOVE the sights, smells, sounds of a Poncho leaving posi in a few gears. BUT,

....I rode in a two motor Tesla car a few weeks ago. It will spank the overwhelming majority of home built Pontiac hot rods. (Based on an estimate gut-ometer reading of about 0-90 in 7 seconds.)

They have their place. See what this mechanical and electrical engineer says about them. ->https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvnEq1J460w

And I still don't care, nor do the majority of Americans.

Test drove a Tesla a few months ago when shopping for a new (late model used in this case) car. It does have its merits, but spending big $$ on an ugly software-controlled top fuel golf cart with a limited lifespan had ZERO appeal, so we ended up with another ICE.

The cybertruck is novelty, if not an all around joke - especially for what they cost. Sure it has torque, but the towing range with any kind of load is less than what I get from my 20+ year old big block chevy with a full tank of gas (@10mpg!)). 'Recharging' can be expensive (but NBD since it has been paid off for nearly 20 years), but it also takes less than 5 minutes to fill the tank just about anywhere, and I have been able to fix everything on it in my own garage over the past 20+ years. I may not be a professional mechanic, but I'll trust myself over a software update that is (or soon will be) farmed out to a third world country. On the plus side, I'm pretty sure it took the crown from the Aztec when it comes to being the ugliest POS vehicle in the 21st century.

Once we got here for good, we bought an electric car.
Plug in, not hybrid - hybrid to me the worst of both worlds. We decided on a Peugeot e2008; they run about $40k. It was not the best in any category but did everything well at a good price point. There are a LOT of Peugeots running around Portugal - think Cutlass in the 70's - Olds could not build them fast enough.

There are a few items of French goofiness that make me shake my head but for what we use it for it is superb. This car is 4.4 meters long - smaller than the wife's old Caliber and my father's 2008 Forester (last short body). Peugeot offers an e208 which is a foot shorter but interior room suffers disproportionately but it has the same 136hp drivetrain. It does not have all the bells a Tesla has, ie manual seats (with manual height adj.) but more switches and EU specific things ie. rear fogs lights.

For day-to-day stuff and short trips it is hard to beat, especially since we have solar panels on the roof. I have yet to charge it from a pay charger - one would think you would simply plug in and pay with a credit card but that is not the case here for some damn reason...

I saw a Tesla truck the other day and it was black. It looked a lot better but still looks like a kindergartner drew the design for it. It is ugly. As I said before, I like the new Chevrolet Silverado EV but again it is way more expensive than the ICE Silverado. I would rather have a Duramax Silverado and it would be cheaper. We have a 6,000 lb loaded travel trailer and the range you lose with electric is crazy. The lack of infrastructure is still one of the reasons I won't be getting an EV along with the price premium to drive "green". When they are similar priced, I might consider one.

Starting next year, it should be going gangbusters for Tesla.
Probably chargers in every home.
