I saw that posted on social media earlier today. It and a mini van tangled. The view from the other side is much worse, because the left frame rail and steering box/column traveled WAY back on impact. Hoping the driver makes it.

Obviously I wish the drive the best and I must say that was a beautiful car. Can't think of a better color / wheel combo.

I hope that whomever was driving is OK. These cars do not fare well in a crash with a modern vehicle. Or anything for that matter..
The crash looks very similar to the damage sustained to our Tempest when my son wrecked it. After it's over and hopefully everyone's OK, the next step is the sense of loss at seeing all of your money and hard work evaporate. |

It was on Long Island NY. about 20 minutes from me. Sad, I just saw the post on FB. I do not have details.

I thought about your situation when I first saw the pictures. The damage is strikingly similar. |

Unreal that these old full frame cars do so poorly in a crash with a minivan You feel pretty safe driving behind all that sheet metal out front and all that iron .
There’s a 69 bird on copart that took a hard hit too almost the same paint as this car. Hope the driver is OK in all instances.

To be honest when I went from driving G and A body cars to a F body 68 Bird my big fear was crashing it in the front end and driving the subframe back into me. Not so scary now that it has frame connectors.

The solid, 3/4" Ø, non-telescoping steering shaft is what gives me the shakes on early A's.
That, and no headrests. We have a real slick shoulder belt setup for 69-72 ragtop GM A's about in the can. More info when completed. Mark |

I just seen a post from the owner, he said he walked away unharmed. That is one lucky man!

Anybody have any more information? How did it happen? I know the driver of the Lemans is OK but how about anyone in the mini van? Are there any pictures of the van? I am curious because I drive a 67 GTO convertible.

Exactly that. The steering wheel just bends out of the way as the shaft goes through your torso. That's why I installed a '67 steering column in my '66 GTO, along with the associated '67 bracketry which had to be welded in.
