Hey Fellas..... Where can I get door hardware for a '66 GTO? The doors were purchased from VFN.

Also, I know a few (Scott Rex and ???) recently lost doors going down the track(sorry guys). What other alternatives are out there to avoid the problems that they encountered.

Thanks in advance,

Kev

I used the stock door hinges and removed the springs. I'm gonna use straps to limit the door swing as the wind sometimes gets hold of them.
I adapted the door handes and locks also with a cable from the inside to pull the lock on the back latch assembly.
I wish I could find someone to install roll up lexan windows w/aluminum border with the factory crank in Glass doors.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Is there really someone who would do that. But then again if you have enough money you could get just about anything done . How much do you think that would cost?

There is a guy in Orlando with a 79 Z28 with glass doors and roll up windows. You must use the pre-formed lexan windows though. Looks great!

I believe NHRA says the doors must be pinned. I guess Scott Rex is now an expert on this subject, at least he is experienced.

Hey Guys.... I can't seem to locate Scott's email. I need more info here. All I have gotten is the use of stock stuff without the springs (thanks PDude) What other hinge options are available out there and are there any web sites for companies that stock this stuff?? I am surprised that VFN doesnt carry this stuff since they sell the doors and all. How about the light springs for the hoods as well?

Thanks again. All of this stuff (F glass and how to hang it)is new to me.

Kev

I lost my door on the my last Q16 qualifying pass at Norwalk.

Our fiberglass door uses small POSTS on the door frame in place of hinges. The door slides down over the post and we are SUPPOSED to insert a pin into the post to keep the door from jarring loose.

The reason we do this is because we take the door off the car so that we can load the car into the trailer (and get out once its in). We strap the door into a bracket on the trailer wall ... its never fallen off -- yet

The door came off because of tire-shake at the starting line. If we had inserted the pins, it could/would not have come off. In spite of hitting the pavement at 100mph, the door is in great shape. Replace the lexan, reinstall the lock mechanism, touch up the paint and we'll be as good as new

I've been "teched by the best" and i've never heard of any NHRA door latch requirements -- but nothing would surprise me.

Good luck
