Just woke up the project for the fall season due to excessive work requirements. Hopefully, I will be able to cut the first prototype Ram Air pan in metal in October. Stay tuned...

So have all the images from this thread been purged in the move? WTF?
Is there any way to locate the images? They are priceless to me and I don't have copies. mike

I'm shocked that you don't have copies anywhere. I hope they are recovered and I would strongly recommend you burn them to something. I keep a lot of mine on photobucket but anything online is liable to be lost. The really important stuff I burn to a disc....or two.

Hope they can restore the pics, they were some great documentation on the project.

Thank You everyone for addressing this. I have a few shots on one of my computers, but I don't have all in one spot. I'm in the process of gearing up the project once again after a financial rest.

After struggling for hours trying to get the carb base plate relocators set, I've successfully mounted the monsters on the intake. No small task by any means.

And I'm going to cut 1/8 clear Acrylic Ram Air Pan to check fitment as well as needing to find other recess areas.

Cardboard cutouts for fitment. Since this project has been dormant for almost 6 months, I have to go back and recheck everything before moving forward. Just got the Dominator specs last night so I can cross reference placement under the hood.
Manufacturing is a bit busy and I'll have to wait for the acrylic part to be produced on Monday. Sucks that paying customers get in the way. |

Carb spacing is about one eighth off but an easy fix.

So I've ironed out the bowl location issues I had and moved the exhaust risers back to the factory position. I'm betting dollars to donuts that the factory heat riser position on the drivers side is incorrect and has been in the wrong position from the factory all these years. Like it does not line up for the Firebird RA Pans. I also suspect the factory upper pan does not line up with the lower pan exactly in the middle.
With the size of the new quad pan and the lack of mounting ability to the carb bowls, I need to concoct mounting perches with rods to give stability to the part. I believe it will have a decent original look to it once complete with the adjusters and not interfere with the rest of the plumbing. |

Have you thought about using the brackets they put on the 70-71 Formulas to stabilize the lower pan?

Good point. I have not. Though I vaguely remember what they look like a picture would be great, but I highly doubt the height would be the same. Regardless, I'm open to food for thought.

Pic of them:
Would probably have to make it, but gives an idea of what Chris was talking about.

Oh I see.
Thanks John for the illustration. Yeah, I figured that a custom bracket would be in order and nothing off the shelf would suffice. Besides that. With the carbs turned sideways, the bowls hang out to about the end of the intake. This makes it tricky to come up with mounts that don't run into things like linkage, fuel lines and such. It's for sure going to be a tight fit but I think I can make all parts merry. ;o)

Git rid of the Doms and use carbs that would have been run on the intake back in the day!Tom
