Default pushrods rubbing??

So after assembly on my 461 we noticed my pushrods are rubbing on my edelbrock heads. I thought they were supposed to clear 1.65?? Anyone else have this issue?? I am running solid roller and harland sharp 1.65 rockers. Pushrods were measured and ordered the correct lenghts

You got two choices, remove the heads and have the pushrod holes enlarged or switch to 1.5 rockers. I can understand your frustration as you would think the heads should clear.

Ditto. Had to clearance the sides on a couple of the holes on my 2nd gens when I put them on my aftermarket block. Still running a flat tappet.

Wink

A sight rub won't hurt anything and will also help control flex.

It's not a slight rub once I really watched it. It was almost flexing the pushrod. Do the Louis tools work on the e heads

Careful. I had the same issue with my High Ports (but at the top of the pushrod hole) when I changed to a higher lift camshaft. Cost me broken lifter bore and junked a block I had 2K in.

What wall pushrod?
Spring Pressure?
I have seen allot of pushrods rub the head due to the pushrod flexing.

X2^^^^ A friend of mine had such bad push rod flex it looks like the push rod was touching the head the hole way down. There was a thread on here somewhere. I went to 3/8 manton push rods. Heads had to be clearenced and new guide plates.

Agree, that is why I asked the thickness. Had the same issue the op is having using .083. Changed to Smith Bros .116- problem gone and the car picked up .10
